I’m Alexis Ahrens, write-at-home mom. A recovering teacher, I now put my creative energy mainly into motherhood, and in my spare time, into sharing what I'm learning from my son about parenting today's generation of highly intuitive children. I'm also the author of Baby’s Little Log Book and a handful of other books-in-progress.
Becoming a mother has changed me in ways beyond my expectations. I knew it would change my lifestyle, and I welcomed it. I knew it would help me become more giving and patient, and I’ve experienced that (most of the time). What I didn’t expect was how motherhood would give me the determination and commitment to grow as a person in order to be the best possible guide and support for my son.
I question myself more – not from a place of self-judgment, but from a place of curiosity. Motherhood is like the most intriguing science experiment of my life, and I’ve become a keen observer of cause and effect. I’m learning that my own inner turmoil is the cause when I observe negative behavior in my son. Likewise, when I am fully present and have regained a state of inner peace and joy, I see that reflected in outward peace and joy in our home.
And so … I meditate, I journal, I write, I learn. Practices that were only half-heartedly attempted in the past have become crucial to the daily work of growing into my highest and best self. I now have an instant-feedback monitor in my house to set off an alarm when I get off track. It’s name is Lucas.

Speaking of … here is our little guitar-playing boy-wonder. We’re saving these pics and videos for his “VH1 – Behind the Music” documentary.
And just to be completely random, here is a picture of me swinging from a trapeze out in the boonies somewhere north of San Diego. (I’m in the pink … and I missed this catch, by the way.) Aside from childbirth, this is the hardest, most frightening thing I’ve ever done on purpose.
