Kids Not Sleeping? Try moving the beds

For the past few weeks, Lucas has been getting up multiple times during the night, very upset and scattered and not really awake. Nothing we do consoles him; he doesn't want to be held, but he doesn't want us to go, either.

He has a full size bed, which is pretty large for a three-year-old. I've noticed that he always goes to sleep in one tiny corner of the bed, practically hanging off the side. Once he falls asleep, he thrashes all over the place, and often falls off the bed. This isn't what wakes him up, though. Once he falls off, he actually sleeps better on the floor.

I started wondering if perhaps the bed, or more specifically, the bed location, was partially to blame for the sleep interruptions, and this is why: recently, a friend called to ask for my recommendations on Feng Shui and space clearing books, knowing I'd have a few to pass along. As I pulled out the space clearing book by Karen Kingston, I noticed that I hadn't finished reading it years ago. The bookmark opened up to a chapter on geopathic stress.* This is something I would have had no interest in when I first read the book, which is probably why I didn't make it past this chapter heading.

It caught my eye this time, though, because I'm more aware of anything to do with energy and how it affects us – specifically, how it affects Lucas. I skimmed the chapter standing right there at my bookshelf. Kingston wrote that one way to tell where there is geopathic stress is to notice who hangs out where. Apparently dogs hate and avoid these spots, but cats love them, (as do bacteria and viruses – ick!). Interesting, yes, but I still didn't give it much thought … until I noticed that my cat, Princess, has been napping the days away on Lucas'  bed.

So we moved the bed.

And Lucas stopped waking up.

And Princess stopped napping on his bed.

It might be coincidence, but it worked for us, and I thought you'd be interested in knowing about it. It's an easy solution to test out, at the very least. The more tools we have to help our sensitive little crystal kids deal with all of the energy they sense, the better off they'll be.

Have any of you heard of geopathic stress before? What do you think about it? Let me know in the comments.

Cheers!

*This was the most practical of the many sources I found online to describe geopathic stress. It was written in 1999, though, which seemed to be a popular time to write about this. Take it for what you will.

That's so great that moving the bed worked - for whatever reason! Sleep is sleep!

I heard about geopathic stress back during my reflexology diploma (back in 1997). My teacher was into everything. At the time, I was perfectly willing to accept it (I dabble in feng shui) but she had about a million things she considered for herself and her kids that I saw it as obsessive, and so I let it go.

However, i do think about it. I noticed my girl has a tendency to sleep with her head facing northish (haven't checked).
And when we had to sleep in the living room due to the heat, i did wonder if it was going to make any difference - it didn't.

Unfortunately, our room is too small to move the bed anywhere else.

Perhaps I should let one of the local stray cats we feed come in for a few nights, see where it sleeps, lol.

Mon ~ Letting a stray cat in would certainly be an interesting experiment, lol.

I realized tonight that with the new bed position, he's sleeping about where he used to sleep (very peacefully, I might add) in his crib as a baby.
Cheers!

Hi Alexis: Great find -- I love how the solution came to you. I remember in one of our homes, I had Mel "dowse" for the geo energy lines -- made with two coat hangers and an empty ball point pen. I always noticed that Alex would wake up sleeping sideways in his crib. This reminds me to check the lines in his room in this home...

BTW, I love the new look of your blog and I'm honoured to be on your blog list.

Liz~ I know! Interesting stuff, huh? Thanks so much for your sweet encouragement with the book! It IS packed with these tips and hints! Little by little, I'm getting there.

Janice~ Did the coat hanger dowsing thing really work? I'd love to check other places in our home.

Lucas used to sleep sideways in his crib, too, and that's exactly the way he's facing now in his new bed position.

Thanks for your kind words about the blog. I appreciate them!
Cheers!

Hi Alexis: I got the technique from the "Awakening the Third Eye" by Samuel Sagan. Truthfully, we didn't have much success, but we only tried the one time and then sort of gave up. My theory is that the coathanger wires weren't straight enough.

Basically, you need 2 L-shaped rods (i.e., made with 2 metal coathangers). The longer side of the L is 15" and the shorter side is 4.5". Insert the shorter part fo the L-shaped rods inside the empty plastic shells of 2 ball poin pens. The L should be sharply bent 90 degree angle, and each side should be as straight as possible. The rods should be able to rotate freely inside the shells. Then you hold the pens at your belly height and systematically walk around the house. When you cross a line, the rods swing and position themselves parallel to a line. Good luck!
